Artist Statement

When I began my career some 30 years ago, I concentrated primarily on hand-built geometric shapes decorated with cobalt blue.
Lately, I find myself more and more fascinated with human faces and figures done in a wide variety of colors, underglazes, stains and oxides.

Even more recently, I've begun creating small groups of human figures that, while supporting one another in conveying my thoughts, consist of distinct individuals with their own stories to tell.

The endless variation of human faces and forms makes it easy for me to live up to my self-imposed maxim that all my works will be one of a kind, never repeated or copied.

I believe that's as important to those who own my art as it is to me.
